Elders
Our team of Elders take a big picture “balcony” perspective on God’s work in our community.
They meet bi-weekly to pray together, bring some order to the chaos, and pay attention to what the Spirit is doing within Eucharist.
Our current elders are Sharlene C, Cindy S, Stephen E, Maria E, Peter G, Sarah S, and Johnny W.

Nina Schuurman-Drenth
Nina Schuurman-Drenth was raised in Hamilton and has lived here ever since. Growing up in the Christian Reformed Church, participating in a charismatic and contemplative new monastic community, and then going to an Anglican seminary, she is a self-proclaimed theological mutt.
She wore many hats around downtown Hamilton before landing at Eucharist, including roles in prayer ministry, refugee care, student ministry and non-profit work. She has a Masters of Divinity from Wycliffe College.
Nina is a visual artist, a gardener and a wife to Dave. Her interest in Christian eco-spirituality has led her to experiment with quarterly outdoor contemplative worship called Wild Church, which she hosts in partnership with A Rocha Ontario.

Kevin Makins
Kevin Makins is the founding pastor of Eucharist Church, which he planted with a great team back in 2010. A born and raised Hamiltonian, in high school he worked as a camp counsellor in Beasley Park and fell in love with the downtown.
Through storytelling, conversation and creative projects he is exploring what it means to follow Jesus in a post-Christian, Canadian culture. Kevin graduated from Heritage Seminary with a Masters of Divinity.
Kevin lives, works, plays and prays in downtown Hamilton with his wife Meg and their awesome children. He works on a number of other projects, including a series of YouTube videos related to life and faith.
He also recently released his first book, “Why Would Anyone Go to Church?” which shares many stories from the first decade of Eucharist Church.
